Overhead press with leg drive. More load than the strict press. Develops power and overhead strength.

HOW TO PERFORM

Set the barbell in the front rack position.

Dip slightly by bending the knees — a quarter squat.

Drive through the legs explosively, transferring power to the bar.

Press the bar overhead to full lockout.
- 5
Lower under control back to the front rack position.
THE STANDARD
Full lockout overhead. Leg drive used on the way up only — no leg drive on the descent.
COACHING CUES
COMMON MISTAKES
Dipping too deep — this becomes a push jerk.
Not achieving full lockout overhead.
Using leg drive on the descent — lower under control.
SCALING / SUBSTITUTIONS
Strict overhead press to build the pressing strength.
Dumbbell push press as an alternative.
Reduce load.
