HOW TO PERFORM

  1. 1

    Set the cable at face height with a rope attachment.

  2. 2

    Grip the rope with both hands, palms facing in.

  3. 3

    Pull the rope toward the face, separating the hands at the end.

  4. 4

    Elbows stay high — at or above shoulder height.

  5. 5

    Return under control to full arm extension.

COMMON MISTAKES

  • Elbows dropping — keep them at shoulder height or above.

  • Using too much weight — this is a shoulder health movement.

  • Not separating the hands at the end of the pull.

  • Reduce the weight.

  • Resistance band face pull as an alternative.

  • Band pull-apart as a regression.
